Starting a new business is hard. With the economy stuggling and everyone cutting corners it’s even harder these days. You have to buy equipment and supplies, market and advertise as well as put in some long hours.
Before
Oscar is a true hard working individual with the goal creating a strong landscape business. I met him when he was going door to door in my Gilbert neighborhood looking for people who needed lawn serve. His timing was perfect because 3 of my sprinkler head just stopped working, there was water coming up from underneath the sidewalk and the timer wasn’t turning on the sprinklers as scheduled.
After
I wasn’t so concerned with the lawn service as I was the getting the sprinkler system working again. After looking at the system, he said he’d be back the next day to fix it. He did come back and started the work, but an emergency at home with his pregnant wife pulled him away (he never did tell me if she had the baby). As promised he was back and got it all fixed. I was amazed at how much this young man knew about the system and how it worked to trace down each problem and get it fixed.
His good work made me decide to let him take care of the yard. Again, when he finished I was astonished at the things he knew and how the property should look. The work was done quickly and I have a much nicer looking yard!

As economy goes, many local businesses cut their marketing and advertising budget, but they took it the wrong turn. They also cut their quality services. So they offer discount price to attract new customers while lowering their service standard by offering discounted services too.
We need more local businesses who understand that customer is always the first and quality service will keep them forever.
