The Gilbert Small Business Alliance hosted the 2010 Statesman’s Tour again last night at Warren’s Bistro (Williams Field and Val Vista). We were introduced to 3 candidates and each was given about 20 minutes to cover their views. For the next 5 weeks you can attend the Statesman’s Tour, mark your calendar for this event and know your candidates before you vote.
First up was Matt Jette (R) for Governor 2010. From his website Matt says, “Yesterday we trusted in people who ran out of our money, ran out of ideas, ran out of our trust and ran out of special sessions. Tomorrow, we are left to believe in those who have misrepresented themselves as noble servants working on our behalf, financiers who have sought profit over prudence and officials who used their public positions for self interest.”
“Now they have run out of time. Today, we can begin anew by rising out of this storm. Today we can find again the opportunity to stay in our homes, find decent employment and educate ourselves and our children. Today, we can understand the issues of immigration, health care, and the economy of our great state of Arizona more fully and completely by participating in a campaign that you are already engaged in each day. That is, its time to believe in someone again who believes in you. Someone who has personally encountered the hardships and hurdles you face each and every day. That someone is me. I’m Matt Jette and I am running as a Republican and as the people’s Governor of Arizona in 2010!”

Jeff Smith, a Gilbert residen
t, is a Republican running for congress in Arizona’s 6th Congressional District. From his hand out, “Elect Jeff Smith to restore proven conservative principles and values to the Republican Party and to Washington, D.C. As our representative in Congress Jeff will work tirelessly to: Defend Free Market Capitalism and Private Property Rights, Reduce taxes and promote economic growth, Secure the Border and end illegal immigration, Preserve 2nd Amendment Rights, Eliminate Earmarks and other wasteful spending, Defend Life, Traditional Marriage, and Family.”
“Jeff is not a career politician, and never wanted to be – but he has a deep love of this country and respect for the Constitution. Having lived and worked around the world he has gained a particular appreciation for the United States of America and the inspired founding principles that make it special. He has made the most of his opportunities to work for companies of various sizes in the Telecommunications and Finance industries, as well as to earn advanced degrees in Economics and Business. Jeff believes strongly that Economic Freedom and Political Freedom are inextricably linked.”

Jerry Joslyn (Arizona Green Party) for US Senate capped the evening. Quoting Jerry’s website.
“Our problems are getting bigger and our politicians are getting smaller. Arizona is suffering through the worst economy since the Great Depression—yet neither the Democrats nor the Republicans have a plan to get the American economy growing again. This isn’t the time to engage in the same old charges and counter-charges between the left and the right. It’s time to try something new.
Jerry Joslyn is the Arizona Green Party candidate for John McCain’s U.S. Senate seat.
He’ll focus on the big problems of growth, deficits, and America’s shrinking middle class. Instead of energizing the base he’ll attempt to bring together Independents, Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, and Greens to send a message to the two major parties in Washington: You both failed and you’re both fired.
This is a viral campaign and nothing to sneeze at, we hope you catch it.”
